Haley Berkman Karren is a classically-trained art historian who brings over a decade of experience in the art world to Karren Art Advisory.

Prior to founding Karren Art Advisory, Haley gained extensive curatorial experience at international arts institutions such as the Menil Collection, Houston; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Dallas Museum of Art; the St. Louis Art Museum; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Contemporary Art Museum Houston; the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice; and the Pentagram Stiftung/Le Stanze del Vetro, Venice. She also has prior experience in auction houses, galleries, and art consultancies.

Haley is directly involved in the vibrant Houston art scene as a member of Photo Forum at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Menil Contemporaries at the Menil Collection. She also maintains relationships with artists through studio visits and portfolio reviews. Based in Houston, she travels wherever her projects take her. 

She has a Certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Art from the Appraisal Institute of America, and she is an Associate Member of the Appraiser’s Association of America. She is also an independent curator and writer. She has juried exhibitions for the Houston Center of Photography and the South Central Chapter of the Society for Photographic Education. Her writing has been published in the Houston Center of Photography’s spot magazine, ArtHouston Magazine, PaperCity Magazine, and Menil Collection publications through Yale University Press.
